Salò

A guided tour of the historical centre including the site of the Magnificent Patria from the Venetian period and the site of the Italian Social Republic during the Fascist period. The cathedral, dedicated to St.Maria Annunziata, was built in gothic style and represents the work of great architectural value. Inside it houses works by painters Romanino, Moretto, Zenon Veronese and Paolo Veneziano. The town is also elegant in its buildings including Palazzo Fantoni, which houses the university of Salò and the Palace of the podestà, seat of the magnificent homeland is now the municipal seat. Statues dedicated to the patriot and politician Giuseppe Zanardelli and to Gasparo da Salò, known as the inventor of the violin, are located along the lake and overlook the splendid gulf.
